Has it been proved beyond doubt that his facial image was used to depict the Mona Lisa and also create the image Jesus in the cloth of the Turin Shroud? If so what was his message?

Neither, as far as I know. Where did you hear that?
His message? What network did he use?
I've read that he used his own face to depict the Mona Lisa, and in that perhaps he was surreptitiously displaying his homosexuality. I've never seen anything relating his image to the one on the Turin Shroud though.
These seem to be the theories of Lillian Schwartz. There's some discussion of the self-portrait theory here

and the shroud here:

but neither is within a million miles of being proved.

Hi message was probably, "I'll have a laugh with this and see if people 400 years down the line are still laughing."

I would think it points to his egocentric personailty. Pretend it is Jesus and people will rever it for evermore. That assumes he thought he was so clever we would never discover the secret.
