The Spruce Goose I believe, built by Howard Hughes it was the biggest sea-plane ever built but apart from a few test flights I don't think it ever flew commercially

Grumman (as suggested by jno) built a fine line of seaplanes... al named after various seagoing birds... The Widgeon, the Albatross, the Duck and others... seen here: http://www.google.com...3073&biw=1664&bih=872 ... lots of fun to fly!
The "Spruce Goose" was the name given to it by the media, It's correct name was Hercules. It actually only flew once with Howard Hughes piloting and got off the sea by about 10 feet! It was a huge transport plane but by the time it was finished it was not needed anymore.
