no. should only cost you for certificates if you need them, depends what you know and where your researh is going to be, geographically speaking. but then, you could hit a brick wall and no amount of money can solve it.
The Irish research is getting better due to the substitute sources that are being discovered, re-created.
if you downloaded certificates to an account then they should still be viewable.

That's the part of my family tree I got stuffed on as well. I bought quite a few credits from Scotlandspeople which I don't think you can subscribe to, and found that my great-grandparents were from Belfast.............I then got lost completely.

I wouldn't even bother trying to research mine. Massive family and loads of them have the same names.

So if i was doing this, do i write it all down, or is there something i can fill out?

I have a few j gallaghers ummmmm....LOL very common name x

It can cost as much as you like. Like any hobby you can go overboard or just take it slowly. Membership of a genalogy website need not cost a lot but can give you Net access to records. The larger cost is in time & effort, but that's the fun of it anyway. Of course the more investigation you do the less time you have to spend here ;-)

We have the problem of too many names in our family. We don't actually know who anyone is supposed to be!!
the church copied it's registers quarterly, they were sent to the place that burnt down, the local copies tended to survive.
Question Author
So there may be copies?....ill pass that on .....xxx
no the copies got destroyed, the originals will have likely survived in the parish safe

I started to trace mine at one time. I gave up because there were so any suicides in the family. For a while I became very down. My advice is......... if you don't want to know the answers. DON'T ask the questions

You could google IRISH GENEALOGY - good place to start. Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints also run a very informative site. Good luck.
If you need Certificate from the GRO at Lytham, send for them yourself, the online sites charge a lot more. Familysearch.org is the Latter Day Saints site and often has stuff not on other sites. Ancestry.co.uk run free offers for a couple of weeks promotions, if you have a few email addresses, you can do that a few times!

Thanks for the tips y'all xxx

If you got the certificates from Scotland's People, you probably viewed the records first. If you can remember the name under which you signed in, you should be able to get access to any records you viewed free of charge. I haven't paid for any access there for some time but I can always go in and re-view my old searches.

GRO at Lytham? I must have missed that move, what happened to smedley hydro at Southport?
