LOL joe ... very good.

=0)
... but I think I'll stick with Mercia's menu, thanks.
Ummmm........I would gladly do you a special portion of mashed potato seeing as you don't like chips

Afraid it would have to be Cadbury's Smash though

("They peel them with their metal knives".............)

i don't know what it is that annoys me either - after all it's just a menu. I think it must be the "served on a bed of" and "tasty meatballs" (what's the alternative i wonder, bloody horrible meatballs?) and "hand cut" "hand spun" etc etc. I think it's what puts me off in posh resturants - the fact that they have to juuush it up with "timbale" and jus" etc when really they could just describe what it is!
I like chips with a rare steak....to mop up the blood :-)
I know Doc! You're an institution, as are these menus, and the WBM morning thread, and the Mad Over 50's club and so on.

Alternative menu ideas are probably welcome though Doc?

Very good Joe!

Hi Mercia,

Your menus sound just fine and the food great, but I think it's the over use of restaurant type jargon that makes people think it is posh.

ie 'hand cut chips' 'topped with golden flaky pastry'

I actually cook everything from scratch and really enjoy cooking, although egg and chips is sometimes a lovely change. I like more experimental dishes than you offer.

Not a criticism, so don't tell me off Mr Ed.

ummm

'I'm not a fan of chips'

'I like chips with a rare steak'

Sudden change of mind there?
Sorry, I hadn't seen your posting Bednobs. But I agree with you.

Last night I had stuffed peppers and used up all the leftovers.

But I could say.

Fresh yellow, red and green peppers stuffed with prime beef mince, italian tomatoes, hand cut mushrooms, home grown onions, organic garlic, fresh garden spinach, a dash of french red wine, and a variety of home grown herbs. Served on a bed of wholewheat pasta with a sprinkling of Italian cheese.

I think I might write up some Menus!
I love rare steak with chips to soak up all the blood ummmm! Yummy.
I'm not a fan of chips. I didn't say I didn't eat them.

I had a lovely surf and turf on Sunday......It came with chips. I ate about 6 of them. I would have eaten more if I wasn't full up.
joe , i am not a fan of chips either but i like gammon steak with chips ,i just prefer potatoes its not changing your mind as such its just knowing what potatoe products go with what i wouldn't have egg and tatties
Hi mercia. Soup for me today followed by chicken and ham pie with new potatoes and cherry pie with ice cream and gallons of cold wine. Thank you.
We have chips very rarely ummmm.

Dipping your chip into a warm runny yolk is one of lifes little pleasures
