Making cornbread in the UK

I want to try and make this to see what all the americans rave about.I have a few recipies,but cannot find cornmeal in my supermarket.I read somewhere that polenta is the same thing and was wondering if anyone knows if it is?Any help would be great.Thanks,Aya.

I made this recipe and used polenta. It was ok, but i was a bit disappointed with the bread. It didn't taste as I had imagined.
If I were to make it again, I would find some cornmeal. You can buy it online or sainsburys sometimes have it.
All over the world, hungry people eat what's available, rather than what they'd prefer. I put corn bread into this category. ;-)
I've made it & sorry but I don't find anything yummy about it - quite the opposite!
I love corn though & thought i'd like it!
that's why I tried it JD, i adore averything corn-y!
It was pretty horrible though and none of my family ate it:(
