Yes I did Dot. It was a wedding present for my great grandad. When my grandad died they were simply classed as old fashioned and I couldn't even get the Salvation Army to take it away for free. It went in a skip.
It wasn't me - it was my folks. When they moved into their house, it was a bit like Wuthering Heights and it was perishing cold. There were a couple of old beds in the attics so Dad chopped half of one of them up for firewood. He had a valuer round a few years later just doing a general valuation for insurance and this chap went mad when he saw this bed. Dad was gutted when he was told it was worth thousands and he had burnt half of it!

oh was it a rope bed? they date to the 1600s and are so rare!
I have loads of Smash Hits.. do you really think they're worth anything?

When I was about 5 we moved to South London and into a 3 story semi. I found a really tiny book half the size of my thumb. But being little I didn't realise it could have been worth something. My family weren't that bothered either and just left me to it. I feel sick as a pig thinking about it.
When I was a girl in the sixties, I had a life size poster of The Beatles, and got so fed up of looking at it I put it on the floor and rode my bike backwards and forwards all over it.

Arrrrrrrgghhh! what would it be worth now?
I had hundreds of Smash Hits but my mum made me get rid of them. I also had loads of Ladybird books which my mum gave away.
thanks mrs_o, they're not exactly going like hot cakes!
that's because smash hits wasn't the only pop mag going, but back when there was fab 208 there was only jackie and new musical express about, and melody maker

I had a slightly dodgy uncle (think Arthur Daley). I was once with him & my cousin at at a scrap yard of all places and I had my photo taken, sat on the knees of his two mates.
The "mates" were the Kray twins on a visit up North, and they sent me the photo (signed). and a doll. My dad went ballistic & burned the photo. I wonder if that would have been worth anything?
yes probably, the photo anyway, might have got 50 if they'd both signed it cos there are alot of pictures of them but doubt there were many signed ones of them together. they're notoriaty only spread after they were arrested a few times.
Ooh now that i have grandchildren would love my dolls house and rocking horse back. But for me i would dearly love some of my trendy clothing back especially as im the same size and all the fashions have returned, my daughters drool when i describe some of them, maybe not the catsuits though too risky at my age ;-)
I dumped all my vinyl 78rpm records including a lot of 45rpm with 2 tracks on each side.

The artist included, Little Richard, Eddie Cochran, Fats Domino and some Elvis and Beatles : - (

I wonder what they would be worth now?
My mum's best friends mum ( still with me?) had a sketch by the artist David Hockney of her cat. He was a Bradford lad and was in the same class as my uncle at school . Obviously he wasn't famous then, but if she had not just thrown it away it would be worth a mint now !
