Evening,

I think my diet is seriously lacking in fibre which I'm aware is needed in order to keep things in motion so to speak so I was wondering if anyone had high fibre foods they could suggest please?

I tend to eat fish/chicken with salad/veggies for lunch with a mixure of berries for afternoon tea, breakfast is a yougurt thingy with elevensies being an apple and dinner is generally soup with toast (wholemeal). So anything that could be added to my fruits or salads would be fantastic.

Cheers

I often make a salad with cold meats or fish and instead of the standard boring lettuce tomato cucumber do things like avocado, and more importantly fresh figs! They are delicious in a salad a very good for you!
It doesn't sound seriously lacking to me.

Come the winter try porridge for brekky though.
pineapple is really fiberous and good for keeping things in motion, as are oranges. i always add halved grapes to salad just for a bit of variety and taste. homemade coleslaw is another very fiberous food, and if you throw in a hand full of sultanas even better.
Dried fruit snacks, raisins etc.
Works wonders for my daughter.
My electric bill works wonders for regularity.

Eat a couple prunes for your night time snack. Guarantee to work!
Plenty of green veg ie. spinach, broccoli and spring greens or dark green cabbage, your diet seems to be lacking in these. HTH, Gelda
If you're having symptoms which make you think you're lacking in fibre then Fibresure is very good.

It's a powder you can mix in drinks which you can't taste and adds some more fibre to your syste,

You can get a trial pack of sachets in places like Boots or a bigger jar.

Food wise, you could get some Allbran to spinkle over your yogurty thing, maybe some wholemeal croutons in your soup.

If things don't improve and you stil have a sluggish bowel then pop and see your GP to see if they can find a cause. Odd bouts can be normal but prolongued can indicate a problem.

Ps lactulose syrup is quite good if you need anything like that - just ask at a pharmacy counter.
after years of bowel irregularity I have found the answer, I make my own hummous from chickpeas, stir in a large spoonful of pumpkin seeds and linseeds which make it have a lovely nutty flavour. A small amount of this every day on toast or with salad will help. Dried fruit, such as apricots, prunes sultanas etc are good foods too. Sprinkle linseeds into yoghurt or over fruit or add to porridge would add fibre to your diet
