When I warm a tortilla in the microwave for 30-40 seconds as recommended on the pack, the tortilla goes hard again as soon as it cools off, before I can finish filling and rolling it.

I always wet my hand (not soak) with water and pat onto the tortilla. This way the water will evaporate but the tortilla won'ty dry out....

Thanks roosi. That would never have occurred to me. Do you think I can revive the leathery one piled up waiting for disposal by putting them through again using your suggestion ?

Not too sure, another trick is to try putting the water on them and in the micro again for around 30 secs but with a layer of cling film in between?? But not for ages - will melt...
This MAY save them, but other than that I am lost....
Patting water on new one's always works well tho! When I serve them up I always put a layer of cling inbetween too keeps them moist warm and saved from sticking 2 one another

I sprinkle a little water on each one and layer them up with a piece of kitchen paper in between and microwave for less than 10 seconds each and they don't go hard or dry. I thought the 30-40 seconds was when heating the whole pack !

Doing them in the microwave will make them go hard as soon as they cool. Cover them with tin foil and put in a warm (not hot) oven to heat them instead, that way they will stay soft as they cool off a bit.
I used to work in a restaurant and they served desserts that were heated in the microvvave. They were exactly the same, used to go hard as they cooled!

Fajitas are one of my absolute favourites - have them most weekends, and not once have they been hard done in the microwave -patted with some water - they turn out perfect. Did do them in the oven once I think yrs ago and they came out like crisps!!!!!!!!!

But only in the micro for a matter of seconds - 10/20 no more.............................................

I wrap them in foil before putting them in the oven. They never go hard.

Thank you all for your advice.
I'm gonna try 1 or 2 using each method with the next pack, and choose the method that suits me.
Incidentally the birds in my garden squabbled over the leathery remains of my batch of tortillas.
