Does anyone know of an easy way to de-bone kippers? my family love them but they refuse to eat them due to the hair like bones, which i can never completely get out. I know a lot people just eat them, but we find they just put us off the fish

I love Kippers. The secret is to have lots of brown bread and butter and eat it together with the kipper. You don't notice the bones.
I was going to say the same. Cept I use white bread.
You may not notice the bones but they are still there!! A neighbour of mine nearly choked to death on a kipper in a hospital of all places.
The herring is the tastiest and most versatile fish of all. I think God made a design error with all those little bones !

Not quite the same, but canned kippers, e.g. John West or Princes, are bone-free, I think they are removed enzymatically. Gorgeous with oodles of hot chilli sauce and white pepper.
Have you tried one of those fish-bone magnets? They pull all the bones clean out with no fuss.
Doh! It was a living creature that you chose to eat. Pick them out slowly and methodically as you eat it or buy some "fish" sticks instead!
I would not advise eating the bones..I tried it and one got stuck in my throat. I was violently sick and very lucky as it caused the bone to dislodge and was expelled.....I was home alone and could have choked to death....
