who makes the best icecream?,,,,,,,Forget Hagendass[not sure if that's how you spell it] and Ben & Jerrys,,,I still think icecream from when I was a kid was the best.[I'm getting on a bit though] Here's two examples,[dont laugh] Tonibell and Walls Cornish.........

Joe's in Swansea, from the shop not their takeaways.
That block that you used to get, pink, white and chocolate, and nan would slice it and put it between two wafers. Mmmm

Lewis' of Morecambe...never tasted ice-cream anywhere in the world that's as good as the stuff i loved as a kid! Wallings of Cockerham is great stuff too!

Thanks for responding,,,While I'm on the subject, here's one of my worst,McDonalds,,,,,I know it tastes o.k,but it always seems to go all watery,,,Is it me being fussy,or does anyone agree?
McDonalds ice-cream goes so watery because of the ridiculously high sugar and air content...that's also why their ice-cream and milkshakes go through you like a Tokyo bullet train!!!
What about Funny Faces? I think they replaced by Funny Feet. I remember Tonibell (pink van with a cow?) but round our way Mr Softee reigned supreme

Yea,,,,,like all there stuff,,,never quite right, have you ever tried there muffins, the one I had tasted like uncooked dough,,,,I couldn't even finish it,,I'm not a fussy eater but I really try and avoid McDonalds.......
Any flavour by Carte D'or especially the vanilla. its so creamy its unbelievable. the 'light' variety (less fat) is actually more creamy than the full fat version. I love it with a tin of mandarin oranges, just like my nan used to give me.yum yum :-)

Wallings of Cockerham is The Best, closley followed by Bonds of Elswick and then if your in America Baskin Robbins! Mouth is watering now!!

I usually buy Walls Cream of Cornish but Tesco do their own Cornish Ice Cream and that is really nice. I object to paying for all these flavoured ice creams like Haagendaas (I can't spell it either)Nice though it is, you can't beat a good Vanilla like Cream of Cornish. You can always add your own fruit anyway!

..check out these 3 pages for a trip down ice cream memory lane.. http://www.kzwp.com/lyons/group2.htm
Don't forget good old Mr Whippy ice cream from the ice cream man! Yum yum, I love Screwballs aswell!

Not at all expensive or exclusive if you live in the north west, about 1.75 for a decent scoop on a cornet! Both made on farms locally and sold in shops around and about.

emmalee,,,,,get em to send it down 'ere....and ermintrude35,,I remember them all from1960 on.The frozen mousse you was supposed to thaw out,,I never did! I thought it tasted better frozen hard.......
I like all makes of ice cream but the absolute best I've tasted was from a small shop in the backstreets of Amalfi which was made on the premises. The flavour was vanila and it was ice cream to die for.
Question Author
Artemis, scuse my ignorance.......but where's Amalfi ??.Just incase I feel like going there to try some of this delicious vanilla ice cream you mention...
My own home-made ice cream is honestly the best I've ever tasted, but a close second is the Harbour Bar in Scarborough (it's not a bar, it'a little cafe but the ice cream is to die for!)
I have just discovered a new Hagen Daaz which is toffee ice cream with a toffee swirl in the middle - Divine
