I have plenty of ideas but usually only ever accompany food with boring things like rice, mash, boiled tats, jacket spuds? Any other suggestions to make apart from chips!!

spag bol and garlic bread
a really nice side dish with pork or chicken is tomatoes, onions garlic borlotti beans and corriander - just bung them in a pot for 20 mins

Use the rice to make a risotto - there was a good recipe on this site earlier (in the past week anyway).
Lyonnaise the potatoes.
Put mash on top to make a Shepherd's/Cottage Pie.
Roast new potatoes with other root vegetables in olive oil and rosemary/thyme.
Fresh, home made soups (or if it's for tonight, a shop bought premium one) with fresh, crusty bread/Irish Soda bread.
Quick ratatouille with bread as above.
What about pasta - tens of types and hundreds of recipes?

Par boil some new potatoes then roast in the oven after drizzling with oilive oil and honey.

Get some dried apricots (like the ready to eat snack ones), wrap in bacon slices, secure with a cocktail stick and bake for 15 mins in the oven.

Get some pork chops, fry in a frying pan in a little olive oil and some chopped garlic and ginger until sealed. Add a glass of white wine, 500 ml of cream, mushrooms, peppers, chopped chilli, shallotts, spring onion or anything you like and simmer until the cream/white wine sauce has reduced to a nice, thick creamy sauce. I also add chopped fresh mango to this.
All this takes around 30-40 mins and it is superb....serve with honey roasted spuds plus the apricot/bacon rolls.

Enjoy

Vegetable stir fry. I use peppers, shallots (quatered), spring onions, mushrooms, chillies. garlic, ginger, courgettes, mango and bean sprouts.....or anything of your choice really.

Stir fry in olive oil for a few minutes then add some teriyaki sauce and stir fry until it starts to caramelize.....lovely and sweet.

Why not try roasted or mashed sweet potato or butternut squash....delish !!!....you can also deep fry sweet potato as you would chips.

mash potato but when you're mashing it, use butter and cream. Chop some onions finely plus some garlic cloves and throw a handful of grated cheese in....mix well

Get some new potatoes and boil until nearly done. Remove and drain. Remove the top of each potato and set aside then start taking out the insides of the spud with a melon baller leaving just the skin and a small bit of potato around the inside.
Fill the hollow spuds with finely chopped ham, ricotta cheese and mixed herbs all mixed together.... anmd replace the potato top
Put in the oven for 10-15 mins and bake.

couscous, multiple flavours fairly healthy, dead easy
