When you use two spoons to make a particular shape with maybe ice cream or similar, I just can't think of the word ๐Ÿค”

I have a zester which is as useful as a chocolate teapot. I use it for scraping the grill to get the burnt on bits off before I wash it, works quite well.

If I need zest, I grate it.

Toorak, I have one of those - we call it 'a knife'...

I think they only work on hard boiled, Toorak.

Anyone else got a cherry de-pitter?

I am useless at topping eggs with a knife. I thought this sort of thing would make it easier and neater - it doesn't ๐Ÿคจ

That might explain it Tilly - we like our eggs fairly soft

I've got a cherry de-pitter, Tilly. I've never used it with cherries, but I have with olives occasionally.

My cherry pitter comes in handy if I make a cherry clafoutis.

I also have snail tongs - haven't used them in years

I have a very smart - but also very, very sharp - mandolin that I am too scared to use. Those are responsible for many kitchen mishaps, so I've abandoned the idea of wafer-thin slices of potato (for my dauphinoise).

I wouldn't dare to have one of these - my mezzaluna is lethal enough

Ever ended up with a sliver of finger in you sliced potatoes, NAC?

I had a cherry pitter once, don't think I ever used it, and don't know what happened to it either ๐Ÿค”

Snail tongs, ooh, had snails once in France, was like chewing garlic flavoured very stiff chewing gum ๐Ÿคข

I have a mandolin, it's very good at decorating the kitchen with blood splattered bits of veg..

The trick with mandolins is to waste the last quarter of whatever you are slicing. Stop before you chop (your finger off!)

Snail tongs...?

Oooh, I'd like one of those toorak, it'd come in handy for chopping almonds for my all bran cake, and walnuts for a walnut and honey soda bread.

Moght have to get one ๐Ÿ˜

I have claw crackers

melon baller

butter curler

zester that doesn't work

I tried the mandolin once. It has a safety guard thing on it, and I found that made it harder to use - I just wanted to swish whole potatoes straight across it, but that was too hazardous.

I had a mandolin but got rid of it when I'd seen too many tv chefs slice their fingers.

Question Author

Are the claw crackers for use on your mother in law, Helen? ๐Ÿ˜Š

Kitchen gadgets - ugh -  it's only more washing up. The zaniest I've come across is a strawberry huller.

As regards Fish Pie, it's a waste of money putting exotic stuff like scallops in, they all get blended into one bland fishy taste.
