Are you doing something/anything, different/interesting, over this weekend, regardless of your feelings about the Royal Family?
We’re doing as we usually do during a bank holiday, staying put apart from taking dog for a walk.
We have our own menu planned for the Big Lunch on Sunday but will have it in the evening. On Saturday we’re having sausage baguettes and a bottle of fizz, followed by meringue nests, at lunchtime, all easy peasy and quick so I don’t miss much of the coronation.
We’re not doing any volunteering on Monday, we’ve both done a lot of volunteering in the past and feel we’ve done our bit.
So how will your weekend pan out?

I am, our wedding anniversary is also over the BH weekend so err indoors and I are having a weekend away! We are recording the coronation and will watch every second when we get back.
Got a friend coming up from the SW and we`re going into London to watch it (what we will be able to see of it anyway) Then probably a drink somewhere before coming home and watching it again on the TV with a bottle of champagne. Street party on Sunday. Just hope the weather stays dry.
We're staying put, but I'm not joining in or organising anything (b'b'q; street-party; voluntary 'tidy-up') apart from a special church service where I'm working very hard learning to play 'Jerusalem' (lots and lots of notes, including pedals on which I've just discovered how to make sounds), the Nat. Anthem and 'I vow to thee my country'. I'm about to dig out the bunting left from the Jubilee and drape some around the door. That's about it, nothing special.
Watching TV, having pork pie for lunch and steak for dinner. Mr T will be taking Poppy Dog out some time. I will probably fall asleep! Definitely no bunting or street parties . We are boring these days!

Awww, happy anniversary TTT, how many years? Hope you have a lovely weekend away, and then enjoy the coronation when you get back.
SJ, that’s great, lucky you going into London to soak up the atmosphere, we did for the diamond jubilee in 2012, had a place in a restaurant along the Thames right opposite where the queen disembarked, amazing. Fingers crossed the weather is at the very least dry on Sunday.
Hope you play all the right notes in the right order jordain ;)
MissT, as long as you enjoy the day doing whatever you like, that’s not boring, it’s just life. Can’t be done with mass gatherings these days myself…to old, too tired and too stressful finding a loo!!
Hopefully I’ll be on a sunny Dorset beach with my two grand daughters but the eldest has asked us to arrive before 1330 so I am guessing something will be kicking off on the Burton village green. A pageant or similar. A great community spirit there and always celebrating something especially Armed Forces Day.
Celebrating quietly indoors with lots of nibbles, special treats & sparkling wine.
Union Jack flying from flagpole, bunting up. I’ll be watching on television and have been invited to a party in the evening. Rule Britannia!
I'm not doing anything special. Daughter and 2 Granddaughters are coming round and I'm sure they are not interested in it, so I will record and watch after they have gone home.

Likewise Vagus. Actually I am looking forward to all the television coverage and bitching about the ladies outfits whilst I sit here in my jeans!

Lottie, I'm going to write to King Charles and tell him you watched him being Coronated whilst you were wearing ripped jeans, a low cut top with a pint of beer in one hand and a cigarette in the other. Oh, and rollers in your hair and furry slippers. :-) x
He might see that as an homage to his wife.
Oh Doug, you are awful!
The lawns need cutting and I've got to supervise the automatic lawnmower

Naomi, if I had a flagpole then I’d be flying it too. The only bunting I have is some bird related stuff, which is always out anyway.
I actually think I’ll put something red, white and blue on, on Saturday, just because!
Sharon, I’m on my way for nibbles and fizz… :)
I hope you enjoy it whatever and whenever everyone.
I do think it’s a historical event and for us, will be something special and worth remembering.
(MissT, I too will be doing something similar..who do you reckon will be the worst and best dressed lady?)
Just himself and the pets are my companions this weekend.
We will watch the coronation whilst munching on Charles quiche, smoked salmon and cucumber sandwiches, clotted cream and scones for afternoon tea

Have you made the quiche Helen? Must say, I didn’t fancy it myself, not that I would make it.
Nowt here - my sister in France is having ten French royalists over for lunch and to watch the coro on the Beeb. she's made a version of the la tarte anglaise et une tarte Camille with pairs or her pears.
No Vagus will make it on Saturday, I do fancy it love B-road beans
Question Author
I think that’s partly why I don’t fancy it, not keen on broad beans, in fact the whole quiche doesn’t sound very tasty so I’ll be interested to know how it goes.
Incidentally, I bought some slides for slippers, thanks to your suggestion. They’re really comfy and very secure x
