It's my annual "what am I going to cook?" Thread.

Got about 40 coming for pre Christmas drinks and nibbles. Then 11 on Boxing day.

I need ideas for nibbles that do not include pastry or cheese (cos I've got loads of pastry and cheese based stuff).
Got mini yorkies and beef; pigs in blankets and cubed belly pork.

Any other finger bites you can suggest, pleas

For the 40 guests I would ask the local Indian restaurant if they can supply something.
Ordinary cocktail sausages?
Boxing Day - chicken satay, blinis, mini samosa, sambousek,
I'm happy with egg mayonnaise sandwich, and of course those mushroom filled vol et vant jobbies, other fillings are available

There are no restaurants near here whose food I would serve!

Samosas and chicken satay are going on my list, thank you.

Yes, Alba, I'll do some cocktail sausages, they always go down well.
Blinis with lumpfish roe or salmon roe
Quiche
Kettle chips
Stuffed olives.
Dates.
(Other fruit)
Bread sticks, Celery/carrot sticks, with appropriate dips (humus, tzatziki, salsa, etc.)
Sweets (Lindt Pick&Mix for example)
Cupcakes
Crisps, pretzels, and/or (can't remember the name, damn it, usually triangular)
Peperoni (small ones)
Mini mince pies (oops, pastry)
Homemade hummus and tzatziki.

Grilled, cubed halloumi and watermelon sticks (alternative to cheese and pineapple).

Graze do nice flavoured crunchy nibbles.
I shall follow this thread with interest. I am having a "housewarming" in a couple of weeks' time with family only for now. We will no doubt have a BBQ for a wider set of guests when the garden is done and at a suitable time of year.

I need some inspiration for food to lay on. One "nut allergy", one fish-hater and one FIL who eats anything as long as it consists of meat, potatoes, sprouts, plain crisps and / or the Hovis medium-sliced white.

Of course I am perfectly okay to serve nuts, fish and anything outside of FIL's culinary preference range as long as it is signposted from 100 yards.

Any ideas appreciated.
Cut a little round of bread, put some goats cheese on it, wrap it around with a strip of chargrilled courgette and drip a bit of sumac dressing (or some other type of dressing)

Some suggestions from the BBC Good Food website:

A look at what supermarkets sell as 'party food' might help here. (I'm not necessarily suggesting that you should purchase any of their offerings, only that they might give you some ideas as to what to make yourself). For example, looking at Asda's website
https://groceries.asda.com/aisle/chilled-food/party-food-pies-salads-dips/party-food/1215660378320-1215661251124-1215684261427
I see onion rings and garlic mushrooms shown there, both of which would appeal to me at a party.

Don't forget chicken wings or drumsticks. They're incredibly easy to cook and always popular at parties.

Got it - Doritos

Thanks all, will look at these great ideas tomorrow. I've got to tidy up the kitchen then play with the kitties before bed.

I adore vol-au-vents - they go down really well at my parties. Well did. No parties now.
What about some of these scattered around?
