Personally I don't know what to do with it, I'm often given one by guests and it sits in the cupboard until the end of Janiary then gets thrown away. It seems like a very dry, light, fruit bread/cake, I did think about toasting it.
Sorry not much help really!
I like it with some cream on and a cup of tea !
I LOVE Panettone! Bit of butter, ohh gosh! It's heavenly.
Zebo try eating it with a bit of button on top in a cake slice format, of it you can, put it in the toaster for just a few seconds to warm it up.

If you like tea cakes then you'll love panettone.
The dullest, driest, most uninteresting thing you'll ever put in your mouth.
Me and lie in king have obviously eaten the same one. Overpriced, dry as dust, don’t bother.
No likey.
It's horrible

ok - won't buy
hc - "...tastes like Gandhi's flip-flop after three months in the desert..." lol :-)
Ha ha, very true article hc. If I should ever be unfortunate to be given one think I’d make a bread and butter pudding with it.
I had to laugh at hc's link, when it said "it tastes like Gandhi's flip-flop after three months in the desert"
It puts me in mind of gardeners that grow their own courgettes. Get tons of them foisted on me every year, the gardeners don't know what to do with them but still they grow them.
The trouble with panetonne is that it is full of promise for us sweet toothed Brits. It's big, it's huge and it looks delicious. Every year I give in and try it when offered in the hope it will live up to expectation. Every year I am left bitterly disappointed and vow 'never again'.
Never understood that either, why not grow something that has a taste?
Try ,Stollen Cake instead. Incredible!
Stollen Cake is the way to go. We don't normally eat cake or desserts in our house but always have Stollen at Christmas.
If you don’t knownwhat to dobeith courgettes younate givennthen send them to me. I have loads of ideas how to use them. Look up a recipe for Maltese stuffed marrow for onemof them
I made a mistake, I was thinking of stolen cake NOT panettone !!
It's fine. It's cake. What's not to like ?
