Hi large bain maries on the internet are too expensive for me. Do you think if a buy a stainless steel non electric 3 tier steamer could be used as a bain marie. The steamer are a much better price. Thanks.

Isn't a bain marie just a pot inside a bigger pot with water. I assume you can use anything like a deep roasting tray.

I wouldn't be without my hob steamer btw.

What I was thinking. Pan on the stove, bowl in it. Should be fine.
