An audience with Ned Boulting.
I love evenings like this......a story teller talking about his passion.......and this was one of the best I've been to......

Such an interesting, clever and humorous man.....as happy to tell jokes about himself as about other people......

I cycle.... not a cycling buff but there was so much for anybody to enjoy......even those who grump about cyclists!

So...haven't seen you about, Chilldoubt......but I hope you get to this event.........it was just fantastic and Dave has redeemed himself for the penis debacle!.... :-)

I'm gutted, didn't realise Ned was in Salford. Met him in York the week before the Tour De France Grand Depart, what a really top bloke.

Sam....you must, if you can, see his show......it's really one of the best I have ever seen....
We had a chat after the show and he is, as you say, a really top bloke.......so clever, witty and charming.......pity he's married... :-(

I am sure he will, Sam....he had a large audience in the palm of his hand tonight....and the chatter as we left was all about how wonderful the show had been....so he must do more....
I will keep my eye out for the next one and give you a nod....x

That's a shame....but as I say....this won't be his only tour......it's going so well...x

It was a great evening - I'd recommend Ned Boulting's "Bikeology" show to anyone - whether or not they are a cycling enthusiast.

I liked his on-screen persona as part of ITV's TdF coverage, and had read his excellent "How I WonThe Yellow Jumper" book, but I really wasn't expecting such a tour-de-force of a one man show.

He was witty, insightful and very clever - whilst retaining the "bloke you'd like to talk to in the pub" manner - and my ribs hurt with laughing as he did his 'explaining the Tour de France' routine.

He'd done some decent homework about Kettering too - and made some bits of video especially for the one night - which were much appreciated.

His comments about various riders (and ex-riders) were mainly kind and humorous (Froome got a very good press) with occasional pointed barbs at one or two of the more recalcitrant members of the peloton.

I'd go and see it again tomorrow if I could.

Bliss for me today was being allowed by Mum to hold her two 10 day old pups for about 40 minutes whilst watching Scotland beat Samoa in a very enjoyable game.

Funnily one of the last litter was named Bliss...
But no, not yet, one may be called 'Chipper' cause he's so lively but the other, I don't know - has to begin with 'C' or 'Ch'.

I was a great cyclist in my good days, in town I was called the amber gambler and drivers dreaded me at traffic lights and junctions, no cycle lanes in that day, bliss for me would not be listening to someone talking about cycling but to actually be able to cycle again, it's great ye enjoyed it gness - and keep cycling, nothing like it :)
