Since we have lived here (almost 15 years now) the town has been battling to bring another supermarket to Cinderford.
Nearly every year an application has been processed for permission. This has been scupperred by the Co-op. They object every time. So far it has cost the council £250,000 in legal fees.
Headlines in local paper the Co-op have thrown the towel in and are not going to object to the latest application.
The council are going to talk to Asda and Morrisons. The plot has been available for years. This is great news for our small town.
We do have a Lidl where I do all my shopping but it means I have an alternative when I can't get something from there.
