What are your fallback meal ideas when you've not defrosted anything/ got anything prepared at all and you need to get something on the table within an hour? I've had one of those days and I haven't got anything sorted for dinner tonight. Minds gone blank!

Hmmm, that does bring back a vague memory of heating some tinned potatoes in the microwave years and years ago and they literally exploded everywhere!
Tinned potatoes make a great potato salad but can't really be cooked anyway other than boiling.
Tinned potatoes are already cooked; they only require re-heating if used with a hot dish.
Cheese, spring onion and sun-dried tomato omelette...grilled goats cheese and crispy bacon...
...tinned corned beef hash and fried tomatoes...
Adult Mac Cheese - onions/leeks/bacon sauteed off, some chipotle and pepper added. Tagliatelle or Macaroni to boil

1st or second up, make a white roux then add the cheese....

Assemble, cherry toms on the top and give it 20 mins @ 200C

and Yum.
Tinned potatoes are so full of water ,yes I know they are 90% water anyway, that frying them is not an option. I have tried it and it does not work, the water makes the fat spit all over the place!
Tinned steak with the tinned potatoes sliced up on top as a beef hotpot! Just heat it in the oven. Tinned steak is pre-cooked.

Another great idea
I was a 'bit tongue in cheek' about the tinned steak, but I went to my cupboard and found I had a tin of beef stew. I put it in a small dish and covered it with some leftover mashed potato then bunged it in the oven. It was a good cheap and fast meal . I also make cottage pie with tinned minced beef and instant mash, usually when we are on holiday in a caravan. Works really well and no one guesses how quick and easy it is!
My fallback meal is chips, eggs and peas. They are always available.
Word has it ,that there are numerous outlets out there who do take aways - delivered directly to your door .

Forget about all this tin stuff ,etc and put your feet up , while you wait for the delivery
^ It's the cost, for the price of a takeaway for a family of 4 I can make them a main meal a day for a week!

Yes but if its all tinned steak and tinned potatoes - I'll take the takeaway and starve the rest of the week thanks!!
It's true...I wouldn't touch your food, Eddie, with a barge pole. Even the thought of tinned meat make me shudder.
Sainsbury's tinned stewed steak is a good standby but I wouldn't use tinned potato.
Tuna....a house is not a home without tins of tuna in brine or spring water.......:-)
Smoked gammon ham, chips and a lightly fried egg over the chips, chips in the oven as we speak.
Pasta, pasta, or pasta :-)
Anne, you can't just eat pasta, can you?
