Why Is It The Norm To Serve Frites, Mushrooms And Tomatoes With A Steak?

And add insult to injury some venues want you to lash a good few quid for an accompanying sauce.

Trip to the butcher is on the cards but shrooms and toms will be off the menu.

If/when serving a steak what do you serve on the side? Am I just weird?

We like mushrooms with steak, also frites, or baked potatoes, potatoes dauphinois , or sautéed .

If having a sauce them a peppercorn one, a few fries and garden peas, maybe some onion rings too.

I like a good stir fry with my rump/sirloin steak. Peppers, mushrooms, mange tout, green beans, baby sweetcorn and a wee touch of garlic. Always use oyster sauce. Yum.

Tomatoes and mushrooms would be near the top of the list of my OHs fav foods.

If I'm making a sauce I don't serve tomatoes. I like Diane sauce so mushrooms are included and I'd serve with chips and peas.

I like my plate to be quite simple but generally has to have some sort of spud.

Steak and salad and buttered baby boiled. Hubby likes a pepper sauce with it but I like my steak naked!

I'm still waiting to find out the difference between frites and chips, apart from the fact that the former is a French word.

I can take or leave mushrooms but with a steak, chips and grilled tomatoes are essential....also sea salt, freshly ground pepper and some decent mustard also tomato ketchup.
