I sometimes have chips but mostly enjoyed them on their own with dips like mayonnaise and a chili one. I have a big plateful!!!
nice Greek salad with lots of feta over the top..
I'm with Sharon, just eat them with a dip.
Smoky paprika alioli
Why do they insist on calling it calamari? It's squid, pure and simple.
Breaded squid doesn't sound so inviting.

Thanks for your answers, salad and dips plus some bread sounds good!
I don't mind what they insist on calling them, I still like them.
Calamari is a culinary name for squid
Calamari is an Italian word for squid. I don't like anything that is breaded but I would probably just dunk it into a chilli dip.
Morue, garni avec pommes de frites et purée de pois.

Sounds lovely: cod, chips and mushy peas.
mushy is different from puree so surely it should be

Morue, copeaux et pois mousseux
If you say so, though cod, shavings and sparkling peas does not quite convey the nature of the dish.
well neither does puree mean mushy!
Does it not? I bet many French housewives would disagree.
You could bet all you want! There are many chefs that would disagree with you!
I quite like sparkling peas
The one dish I regret never trying in France was Steack (sic) Tatare. Basically raw mince mixed with mayonnaise topped with a raw egg. Alas I lacked the couilles. Would loved to have tasted it though.
Quite common in Belgium, I had it in Brugge a lovely restaurant on the main square. Not to my taste at all.
I'm not mad on squid rings but I do like the tenticles. I can remember the first time I ever ate them - on a pizza in the Movenpick in leipzig about 25 years ago. Re raw steak - I would never eat raw meat because tapeworms don't appeal to me.
I've come across mayo in steak tartare! A new one on me, can't see why it's needed when you've got the egg to bind.
