If you haven't got any apps on your smart phone .. its'a bit like having a car with no wheels. Your phone is capable of a great deal more than you are using it for. Go onto Play Store from ypur phone and have a look at free step counters. Download and install one, then have a wander round the house. Very easy, do you have an iPhone?
Question Author
No, Islay. I don't.
Do have have an android? google play
OK its was so easy on an iPhone so I will have to step aside as I don't know about the other operating systems.

Good luck

I have an android Samsung phone, Ducksie.

Thanks anyway, Islay.
I set mine up on my nexus tablet as the android phone I had at the time was not compatible....very easy.
If you look at google play you can download the app, then buy your fit-bit, saying that, I don't have a fit-bit, I just know how they work
I have Samsung Galaxy S5 Tilly, set up initially failed but I'm sure it was because I hadn't fully charged the fitbit, after charging it resumed from where it stalled and finished the set up. Charge your fitbit before set up and I'm sure you wont have a problem.

My wife has had one for several months;they do tend to break but they always replace them
Very easy Tilly, I got mine for Christmas and I had it all set up and on the go within an hour.
thought you wanted a toyboy as I've never heard of a that fitbit lol x
a bit that's fit sounds good to me !!!

Thanks all. It seems easy enough!

I've had one for about 6 months now and love it. It was so easy to set up, I have the app on my iPad and Nexus.

I didn't actually realise that it had to be set up using an app. I thought you just charged it up and input your data and away you go.

I have no apps on either my phone or my tablet

Apparently you can download it for windows. See here

It's not a FitBit but it wont cost you anything and you already have the hardware. Before you know it you will be identifying starts in the sky and turning your central heating on while you are on the bus .. there's an app for everything, well almost.

Alavhalf, do you have to have an Google account to do things like that?
No .. it's as easy as clicking which app you want and installing it. You will need an a/c if you want to purchase an app. Some you pay for and others are free. There are so many that you will never be able to look at all of them .. honest.
I have this one on my phone, it works a treat. I can see how many steps I have taken in the past 3 hours (over 10,000) and look at last week and last month etc. It is quite interesting as most people wouldn't have a clue, but it is a way of checking your activity.
It was free and is worth a try .. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.tayu.tau.pedometer
Tilly, look at your phone, you'll see tiles on it, they're apps, if you swipe over a tile that has the google sign on it, usually google play store, open it, it will open a whole new window to you, find fitbit (all one word on play store) and install it, ya don't need google email for it as far as I know. a lot of apps are free, look for the free one and download it and let it install on your phone
