Wednesday. No frost this morning. That makes a nice change. No air movement, so it's not so bad out at all. We'll see, I might be able to get something done outside. There is plenty to do.

I put the car through the car wash yesterday, I didn't recognise it afterwards, it was silver instead of camouflage mud. I might even get the wee Gtech out and do the inside. it could do with it. weather all this happens or not we shall see!

Have a happy day everyone.

'Car'?
'Wash'
In the same sentence?
Does not compute!

Good morning, Boaty ;-)

Morning Chris. It does sound odd indeed. :o} The car will never be the same again!

How are you this morning mate?
-- answer removed --
My body clock's all wrong, Boaty. As you know, this thread is usually the end of the night for me but I slept all day yesterday and then got up before 2am this morning, so my body thinks that it's now around lunchtime!

My car does occasionally get washed these days (by the guys on the Tesco car park, for £6) but that's only started happening since I bought my 'new' car back in October. I can't get used to driving a so-called 'executive' car!

I'm planning on getting lots of little odd jobs done today but whether or not I'll actually get around to them is anybody's guess!
Good morning, Murdo.

My thoughts exactly Chris. £6! The lot at our Tesco want £26!

I'm kind of interested to see if the wee Gtech is as good in the car as they say. I reckon it will be.

What car did you get Chris?
It's a Saab 9-3, Boaty. It looks and drives like new but only cost me £750.

A bargain! Nice car. I've got as 02 Astra. It is nice car to drive, but a bit on the small side after the Rover 827 I had before it.
At least the spare parts for an Astra shouldn't cost much. I'm a bit worried about what I might have to pay for Saab parts!

Good point. My garage man is good as gold. I've been with him since just after he came out of the RAF, where he was a Vehicle Mechanic, and set up on his own. My customer number is 6. His mum went to school with Vera, that's how we found out about him. We've become firm friends.

Believe it or not, the 2.8 litre Rover was more economical to run than the 1.6 litre Astra!
My local mechanic is fantastic. He'll often do little jobs for me without any charge. It was him who sold me the Saab. (He's not a car dealer as such but he sometimes has one or two cars for sale. He doesn't advertise them though; you have to ask him if he's got anything!)

You either had an incredibly economical Rover or, more likely, you got a rubbish Astra. My old 1.6 Escort and the 1.8 Saab both get around 40mpg around town, I just wish that the insurance for the Saab cost the same as it did for the Escort though. I was paying £28 per month (including 'business use' and full RAC cover) on the Escort but that shot up to £62 per month for the Saab! (After this policy runs out at the end of February I should be able to get it down to around £43 per month but that's still 50% more than I was paying before).
Hello you mob.

All are well.

Just spent 5 hours cleaning 3 months worth of dust build up out of Mrs Ozzy's car. Holden Captiva, probably call them some sort of Chevrolet over there.
Granted she does do a lot of driving on dirt roads.
Question Author
The insurance is cheaper for the astra. but 'normal' driving the Rover won hands down. At 70 MPH the Astra is doing around 7OOO RPM, the rover was doing 3000 RPM. That's why it was cheaper to run. Toddling around town it was doing 1000 RPM. Using less petrol.
Errrr,,,, insert "trust" in front of "all are well".
what a lovely post!
although i'm not sure if i should be posting here as i'm not sure i'd class myself as a early bird, more a can't sleep bird lol

Afternoon oz. She should get better fuel economy now then! ;o}

Morning tandh. Welcome to the morning gang. :o} It's the best way to start the day that I know!...but then, I would say that, wouldn't I! ;o}

What area do you live in? Just being nosey. :o}
I used to drive Astras when I was a trade plater, Boaty. If you've got one doing 7000rpm there's something wrong with your gearbox! (That figure's double what it should be).

G'day, 1ozzy! (Your car is called a Chevrolet Captiva over here but Chevrolet, per se, isn't a popular brand name. The name of their parent company, Daewoo, is far more commonly seen on British roads).

Good morning, Tandh!
