New Zealand leg of lamb £7 Asda. New Zealand Leg of Lamb Waitrose £29. Apart from price, why the difference?

The Waitrose one flew first class.

Dave.
... and the Asda one swam ?
Both fresh? Same weight?
Was the expensive one organic? Or perhaps Waitrose knows it can charge that much and their customers will pay.

More or less same weight, both legs! Even if slightly larger how can they justify this?
:))
I agree how can asda justify such low pricing. It's that sort of costing and the buying pressure on farmers that's threatening our farming industry.

It's obviously impossible to produce that the meat and make a profit at that sort of price. Couple of coffees and cakes at the cafe costs more.

It's like the impossible position of milk being cheaper than bottled waters! How does that make sense?

I think Baldric's cracked it LOL

That's mutton dressed up as lamb!
An aside - Daughter told us to Google 'things overheard in Waitrose'.

1 'Orlando, don't forget to take the rosemary off the foccacia before we feed it to the ducks'
2 'Darling, are we buying pine nuts for both houses?'
3 'Darling, come away from the reduced section before someone from the golf club sees you!'

PS This might explain part of your question smurf
I know the link is old but the asda animal welfare standards are still low I believe.

Waitrose are always more expensive. It is their policy to be an 'Up Market' store with prices to match. They never try to 'price match' other supermarkets.
nicest leg I ever had was from TESCO..however I don't buy them much preferring something off the bone...cos I can't carve for toffee !
I only buy lamb from my butcher and the price fluctuates throughout the year, as I'd expect.

I won't buy NZ from anyone.
hc..it used to be considered the best..for why.. don't know..but in my mind best buy British..support our own, as it were
Baldric, Your link only applies to 'Brand name' products, Waitrose own label products will still be more expensive.
