I'm back again!

I have a Coleman's packet mix for the seasoning for it, was only 50p in Tesco! I've noticed that it doesn't say on it that it's ok for slow cookers, like the beef casserole one does, but surely it would be fine wouldn't it, it's just seasoning?

Don't want anything that will go all clumpy though.

Thanks :)

Thanks murray :)
Eve, be a devil and put your own chilli in. It's always interesting to see just how hot it becomes. :-)
I always use fresh chillis ..but a wee packet mix acts as a good thickener !
Question Author
That is my hope with the thickener, will see how it turns out! Put an Oxo cube in as well and then added a bit more water direct to the cooker after as it did thicken so hope I haven't overdone it.

I did have a look at some fresh chillies but got some chilli flakes instead, went a bit wild as they came out faster than I thought they would so it might end up a lot hotter!

Gave me a good excuse to use up the rest of the red wine mini bottle from the bourguinon last week, and some more of the shallots too and I already had chopped tomatoes, tomato puree etc... Put some mushrooms and a pepper in as well.

If it turns out ok I'll be brave and try proper chillies next time!
If you had all those good natural ingredients why did you want to use a packet mix at all?

For more flavour for the mince. It's delicious!
I hope you put some chocolate in it, Eve.
Question Author
I only thought of chocolate when I was in the checkout queue and only big bars to hand and wouldn't have eaten the rest as not too keen on dark chocolate on it's own. How much would you put in?
It looks mega yummy.

Thanks :) I was worried the mince would go mushy but it's lovely! The kidney beans are lovely and soft.
The three things that really make a chili IMO.....cumin, oregano and chocolate. Dark choc pieces....2 or 3 OR cocoa powder ...half to one level teaspoon.
As Ginge says, a couple of squares. It makes all the difference.

Thanks, I will give it a try next time. Got two more batches left so that's tomorrow night's tea sorted and a freezer portion.
