slow cooker timings

gonna cook a 5 bean chilli, soaking dried beans overnight tonight. my recipe says cook for 10h on slow in the slow cooker. thing is, i wont be up early enough to cook in in time for our dinner that day, but i do want to eat it immediately that its ready. i would like to get the cooking time to about 7 hours max. what would be the best way of doing this? cook on high first? or low first? and for how long high vs low?
