/// He said: 'Just as we sat down inside the pub, I noticed the sign a few tables away from us. ///

Printed on a sheet of A4 and he could read it from a few tables away? Both this guy and his friend must have been to specsavers.

No.

Tish tosh, fiddle faddle and balderdash.

Pub chain removes dodgy poster. No injuries, real or imagined.

If they are aiming the poster at immigrants, then a public houses notice board is not really the place for it to be seen by many, if any immigrants.
that poster should be everywhere in my opinion so no I don't blame wetherspoons or anyone else.

///but we were so upset by it we were forced to leave.///

Oh Dear!

Idiot pins up offensive poster on public notice board, members of public spot it, poster gets removed.

It amazes me why they would even bother to approach a paper with this story.
The customer is a total p.....k.
"It's a disgrace..... I will never go to another Wetherspoons again....... I couldn't finish my sandwiches."
Does he honestly believe that a successful pub chain would deliberately display inflammatory, racist and obscene posters as a norm?
I had a fish/chip supper with my wife in my local spoons last evening.
There is a community board close to where we sat. There was no such poster on our board. What happens when it is kicking out time at 0100 and a malicious customer sticks a poster on the board which is only discovered later today? I know the licensee of my local and her staff would remove it immediately. Quite a few rough diamonds drink in the pub and I would not be surprised if they removed the literature as well.
Oh well this customer got his minute of fame in the newspaper. Sad t..t.

If you actually mean Muslims then I agree, seeing that the vast majority are said to not drink alcohol.

But Immigrants? That I fail to see, are you saying that immigrants don't go into pubs?
No its not sensible to blame the whole pub chain but when people are angry they will say stuff like that. As to whether the person ever sets foot into a pub of that chain again, surely that is their choice?
If it had been me though in those circs, i would have brought it to the attention of the management immediately and the resulting non story would never have made the news thus denying the idiot(s), who put the poster up, the oxygen of publicity.

Well a muslim guest found his way in the pub with the complainant and was uncomfortable about it.
I expect he is a little more uncomfortable now that his mate has grassed him up to his community via the Daily Mail. :-)
Hope it wasn't a ham sandwich. Storm in a coffee cup.
AOG,
Yes, the poster was headed muslims. I meant not many muslims would be likely to see it in a pub.
The poster tells the muslims to go back to their own countries, but the majority of muslims here were born here, so as you rightly point out immigrants was the wrong word.
......correction gromit, it says leave if you do not like our way of life, a valid sentiment.
Tora,

It says "go back to the monstrous shith0les you came from".
"I couldn't finish my sandwiches" hahahah... be suing for trauma or soemthing else no doubt....

The poster was correct if they dont like it then yes please do get out of here asap , please !
The only person to blame is the mindless idiot who put the poster up in the first place.

They walk the earth!
You can't blame the whole chain, just the person who put it up.

I agree he should just have had a quiet word with the staff, and asked for it to be removed.
yes gromit, an accurate description in most cases.
No, of course not aog. Typical DM story......small local event, blown out of all proportion.
