A friend in Italy emailed me a link to a US website, concerning a Russian news story. I'm posting it here for anyone who likes to read some good news occasionally:

"Lavora believes Masha's motherly instincts took over and the cat took care of the baby as her own."

Haha, dont you believe it ,the cat was trying to keep herself warm.

Still, nice story- hope someone takes in the cat now!
Thanks Chris, that is lovely
Great story that, Chris. Masha should be awarded what ever the Russian version is of the animal George cross.
Awww, lovely.
B00, I have to admit that was my first thought but I banished it! How cynical have we become or do we just know cats?

LOL. B00, don't be so cynical about the lovely little fur balls ;-)

>>>the cat was trying to keep herself warm

That occurred to me as well, B00!

The link was sent to me by a fellow cat-lover (who, like me, has got 5 of the little menaces).
I adore cats, but doubt if it was thinking of the baby's welfare.

Cats only ever think about themselves.
Wait till wolfy comes along ,she'll agree with me!

Cats are merciless, heartless little monsters who make us their slaves.
But it stayed there and alerted people so I'm inclined to believe it was trying to save the baby.

That's why I prefer them to people, Hopkirk. You know where you stand with them!
I totally agree, Chris.

I pretend my cat loves me when he comes and makes a fuss of me, but I know deep down he is using me to open another sachet of food.
seems much more likely to me the baby was keeping the cat warm!
Ah but a cat wouldn't do this to your car, hope this guy had fully comp insurance !.

The elephant was just being friendly, Tony ;-)

My cats might not have attacked my car yet but within the past week they've destroyed a DAB radio, wrecked a DVD player, broken several photo frames, ripped up documents I've been keeping for sentimental reasons, pulled down a curtain rail, woken me up several times every night with cat fights (with a neighbour's cat) in my living room, etc, etc, etc.

Why the hell do I love them so much???
Why the hell do I love them so much???

Gawd only knows, Chris.
I'm here B00 :-)

My vet was telling me about problem cats at the vet - she said that there were many that just go for the vet for the hell of it. She said that they get off with this because they are just so cute.

I would love to think that the cat was doing a Lassie impersonation, but cats are not like dogs. They are born evil and we just have to put up with it. Cats just like warm things to sleep on - this had a happy outcome.

I would like to think that Frankie sleeps under the covers with me to keep me warm at night. But I am deluded .....

Cats are anarchists - maybe that is why we like and love them so much.
Whatever the cat's intentions that is a lovely story.

I can't argue with that, Marval ;-)
Lovely tale Chris, I believe the cat knew the baby was in danger.
