Eggs should be ideally kept at a consistent temperature. Not everyone has the luxury of a larder and kitchens tend to not be consistent.

I have a larder :-)
That's so you can keep your golf balls cool,

I gonna throw the rest of eggs out now cause they should not have been in there.
They won't harm you.
Wharton, when domestic fridges were first sold they were hugely expensive so manufacturers wanted to make them as attractive as possible. After all, housewives had coped without this luxury gadget and were very suspicious of them.
So the manufacturers added all sorts of bits like egg racks to make them seem even more of a necessity.

Wherever you buy your eggs from - farm shop, supermarket, butchers - they are never in the fridge. They don't need to be. Read the egg box. Nowhere does it say 'store in the fridge'.
Don't do that. Try scrambling them.
I couldn't find my tin-opener one day and then I remembered that I'd given her the day off.
No need to throw them out, weecalf - just take them out the fridge.
weecalf's being silly now.

Not gonna start scrambling business again.Tilly
Go, on, weecalf. Give it a go. Do them properly this time.
There's no need to throw them away, just take them out of the fridge half an hour before you use them.

You have a chip pan? I hope you also have a damp teacloth handy.
Question Author

Hope you double fried them in beef dripping. It's the only way to cook chips.
I've got a carton of free range eggs in front of me as I type this. The Happy Egg Co. "Keep eggs refrigerated after purchase to maintain freshness". It's also just occurred to me, why is there a 'd' in fridge and not in refrigerator?
My great uncle who is 97, and lives on his own, licks his knife and fork and puts them back in the cutlery drawer.

glad I kept them then Ill boil them tomorrow How long aint got a timer 3 to 6 minutes mate says
I always do scrambled eggs in the micro and they come out perfect, not a rubbery bit in sight. The trick is not to over cook them, 30 seconds at a time and a bit of a stir, no probs.
I keep eggs in an egg stand thing in the kitchen, sometimes I use six in a week, sometimes they sit there for a month..but they still get used, scrambled, boiled,
poached, whichever way I need them.
There's a load of tosh talked about eggs...in my opinion :)
