I have chicken quarters (the breast with the wing bit attached) but I only need the breast bit (on the bone and skinned) for a slow cooker recipe. Will it make any difference it I cook them with the wing bit left on (it turns me taking the skin off, let alone hacking the wing bit off). Thank you.

That's the way that I do it anyway!
It'll be fine but it'll be hard to get the skin off the wings. Much easier to just hack them off.
If anything I think it will make it tastier if you left the wing bit on Sherr. But then I prefer the dark meat of a chicken anyway.

I only want the breast meat when it's cooked, could I not take the skin of the breast bit and then just lob the other bits in the bin when I have taken the cooked meat off (I'm not big on hack meat up or touching it even).
Forgot to say, I use kitchen towels to remove the skin. Comes off much easier.

Tigger - that's too much 'contact' for me. I use a chopping knife and a fork, I really am not touching raw meat.
If I could, I'd send you some of my disposable kitchen gloves. They're the ones that look like they come with a hair dye kit.

That's very kind, but I still couldn't do it. Himself did two for me last time and I was nearly retching!
I'm completely the opposite. I like getting stuck in with a nice garlic and herb rub.

I'll shut up now before I make you retch! lol
I used to hate doing it but it doesn't bother me now.
Why don't you put them in the slow cooker for a little bit on their own (skin on) because the skin comes off much easier that way.
Question Author
Because the stuff (marinade thing?) won't soak in as the meat is still on the bone. I admit I am a wuss, but at least I know my limits.
Isn't Himself around to do it?
Question Author
Not sure if he will be, want to so it myself, but hate doing it. Can just about cope with bacon, sausages and breaded stuff. I will go and hang my head in shame, I am fully aware of how pathetic I am.
lol....how did you cope with nappies :-)
Ever cored a dozen kidneys ?

Sorry am not laughing at you, I know a few people with similarphobias.

I did my kids nappies, could never do anyone else's. I amazed I got through the whole belly button thing (yeuch ). Kindeys, bleurgh!
The wing bit with skin on is abit fatty sherrardk but you might not mind.
sherr, I'm confused, what are you trying to produce as an end result?
