Well done Conne! You don't have to use them to actually express your emotion just tuck one on the end of a sentence to show what the emotional undercurrent is.
This was what I posted for you the other day....

:-) Happy
:-( Sad
;-) Cheeky, joking, light hearted sarky reply
:-p Poking tongue out. I don't think I've ever used that one though.
:-/ "Hmm, not sure"

But I printed more Emoticons so I may get better than you - no I realise you only need the one emoticon - I just used a little more so you could tell me if they were ok. Did you understand them?
The two in your OP suggest you are crying and happy.

They may seem trivial little things but they do help impart that missing je ne sais quois of the written word.

Sorry Conne, I'm not sure if I'm misunderstanding your sense of humour or your perceptionemoticons :-(
^^^ perception of emoticons
Question Author
Perception of emoticons is correct (bah) means black sheep - which I feel I have been a little today. Anyway thanks for answering my post. Con
I've never heard bah meaning black sheep!
Question Author
look up your emoticons Boxy - they are all there - I am gonna confound you all so much with my new acquired knowledge.

Think you may find them MSN Messenger - loads of them.
I don't think I want to, conne - I'm confused enough as it is. :-( and :-) are quite enough for me.
I haven't a clue what the whole (bah) business is about......sorry.

Like I said I stick to a few few simple emoticons that everyone recognises. Con, just keep an eye out for them on other's posts.
Question Author
Boxy okay I understand - they can be a pain in the a se. Seems I have to use them though so people can understand my sense of humour.
