Yes, I have at least 5 when I'm at home.
Sometimes I have less and other times I have more, the same with my kids. I try not to worry about it since I heard that the amount of 5 was plucked out if thin air. I have a friend who has never eaten fruit or veg and she is perfectly healthy.
And to confirm RR

I don't eat 5 a day, sometimes not even one a day (shock, horror!)
i do, though it doesn't mean all in one go.
At least that. An orange first thing, then a few walnuts and dried apricots in my porridge, for breakfast. A banana and a slice of wholemeal bread for lunch. In the evening at least two different vegetables with dinner.
It's just a guideline. Some peoples diets are so bad I think the powers that be felt they had to do something.
I agree Ummm, the trouble is it's practically turned into a religion. On the whole I eat plenty of veg, not much fruit but some days I just don't want any of it, the kids are typical and have never been overjoyed at the prospect of seeing them on their plate, although they love salad so most days there will be a bowl of that sitting on the dinner table.
Don't forget drinks.

I don't eat much fruit but I'll drink it in smoothies etc.

Some people are so clueless with food. Kids were getting sugary cereals in the morning, chips at school dinner and chips for dinner.
One glass of red = 1 fruit, it's made from grapes, 5 glasses = five in a day...simple!
Noooo it has to be different food types so you'll have to mix your drinks.
True, you need apple martini, cherry brandy, wine, limoncello and a glass of orange juice, voila 5 a day lol
even smoothies aren't all that good as according to the dietician i used to visit, they take the natural goodness out of the fruit, her words, not mine.
if one can just eat the fruit as it is. I usually prepare several portions of veg with dinner and three portions of fruit for after dinner, not so hard really.
Appletize is classed as 1 of your 5 a day so I can't see how smoothies are not that good.
additives perhaps and many of these drinks have a lot of sugar, and as i said that was the dieticians words, they don't always get it right, but i took it on board. Stopped making my own, and just ate the fruit.
You could drink six smoothies a day....only one will count as your 5-a-day. Also-with all the fruit in some smoothies-there is way too much sugar.
Why is there more fruit in a smoothie? Especially if you make it yourself using the same fruit you'd have eaten anyway?
grrrr, more sugar, not fruit- far too early for typing!
I think they mean shop bought ones.
Ahhh!
