If I were to make this do you think it would taste nice or disgusting, would it work as a concept?

What I'm thinking is to make a pastry case, fill it half way with some mincemeat (ie as in mince pies from christmas, not mince), top it off with some goats cheese and bake?

Any thoughts?

Not for me I'm afraid, don't like sweet with savoury
No.
Go for it!

Then again, I'm not tasting it!
I do like sweet and savoury, but I don't like goats cheese.
I like sweet and savoury...but I don't like pastry, mincemeat or goats cheese.

I'm thinking of making it for a starter tomorrow. I'll probably try it no matter what, but just wondered what people would make of the idea.
Why not the famous "Only Fools and Horses" dish: smoked salmon, lightly drizzled with Malibu?
There's only one way to find out! Try it yourself, just don't leave it till the last minute so if it's horrid you can make something else!
soft or hard goats cheese?
don't like mince either kind sweet or savory. try it with something else.
No, not mincemeat for a starter. Just put the goats cheese in the tart on its own.
I don't really like goats cheese, but I can see that work if you did.

The combination of the dry taste of goats cheese, and the fruity taste of the mincemeat ... they could balance quite well.

Serve it on a bed of rocket, maybe? The cool, freshness of the rocket would offset the pastry.

I'd give it a go.

Maybe I will jayne, maybe I will.
Go for it. It sounds odd but lovely. Give some of it to me and I will eat it with relish. In one of the Enid Blyton books one of the sandwich fillings is sardine and strawberry. They admit it would be odd but nice.

Good luck with it.
Why shouldn't it work? Sweet and savoury can go well together. Often a restaurant cheeseboard will come with grapes, and I've enjoyed mince pies accompanied by a couple of slices of vintage cheddar and a glass of red wine. But goats cheese - I'm not sure. Let us know?
I'd have a go on that.
I like the sound of it. Mincemeat - yum, goats cheese - yum, pastry - yum. I wouldn't have it as a starter though.
