American ingredients

Can anyone please tell me what "Cool Whip" and "instant vanilla pudding" is? I've found recipes for using them but not what they are.

I thought instant vanilla pudding was Angel Delight.
Cool Whip is like whipped cream, but not the one that comes in a spray can.

Thanks to all of you for very prompt replies, I now know that I can do better than instant!
Yes, I find it strange that a lot of American recipes have packets of mixes in them.
Vanilla Pudding certainly sounds similar to Angel Delight - whisked into milk and left to thicken up. Not sure about Cool Whip though!
Cool Whip is similar to Birds Dream Topping.
