"Curry"

I am often intrigued by the number of people who don't like 'curry'. The dissenters of my acquaintance cite garlic, spice etc as their reasoning, yet go on to eat Thai, Mexican and Chinese food which contains many common flavours.

I struggle to understand how a vast country's food can be dismissed out of hand. To my mind it is like saying I hate British food when the only dish sampled has been Cottage Pie.

If you are a hater of a particular cuisine could you tell me why you are so anti and would you consider trying a home cooked meal vs an Anglicised take away option?

There are plenty of people who won't touch Thai Mexican or Chinese either - because they are (with a few exceptions) too highly spiced.
I don`t like Japanese. Mainly because they don`t really use any spices or herbs to speak of and I find it really bland.
A friend of mine says she doesn`t like ginger but loves curry. I can`t understand that one as it`s the fundamental basis of curry. You can eat Indian without eating curry at all (easier in India than in a restaurant in this country though).
By the way, Tex-Mex is OK but the food in Mexico is very different and I don`t like that much either.
My father won't eat anything vaguely spicy so curry is out for him. However, unbeknownst to him, he has been eating garlic and ginger and mild spices for years (my mum, sis and I just don't tell him!) but curry would be pushing our trickery too far.

He also won't eat venison, however, stick it in a stew and tell him its beef and he's away.
I don't like curry because I don't like the smell or appearance of it, but there again I don't eat anything that I don't like the smell or appearance of.
Looooooove it!!!!!!!!!!! I really love curry.

My granda is old skool he wouldnt even LOOK at pizza or pasta never mind curry LOL x

I love Indian, Pakistani, Bangladeshi curries but I will only eat curries that have been home cooked as I refuse to eat Halal.

My step father would happily eat spag bol but wouldn't eat any other pasta dish because he didn't like pasta.

I can understand folk who eat plain meat and boiled veg not liking 'spicy' food but I do get confuddled by those who chow down on a chicken kiev but won't eat Indian food because they don't like garlic. What The Funicular???
I love curry, Thai, Mexican, Chinese, Japanese, French, Italian, etc. If there's any style of food that I don't like much it's most British food. My mum's shepherd's pie was to die for, but mostly it's just a bit dull for me
I don't like curry... It's my aunties fault. She made one and my first mouthful I bit into something and it just exploded in my mouth! It could have been a clove or something. I won't even go near a curry after that =s
I love curry, but hate Chinese food.

I have a theory that by mixing lard, jam, and vinegar in different proportions proportions you can duplicate the taste of any Chinese dish.
Love all kinds of food ,hence the need to carry my tummy round in a basket (haha) just not too keen on pizza but I do eat it when Im with my grandchildren as they love it.
took parents out to a chinese restaurant for wedding anniversary meal (neither had tried the food before). Big mistake. Every friday night after a pub crawl had to take home a chinese for their supper.
My local chinese is amaaazing esp salt & chilie ribs mmmmmmmmm

Was having curry with a mate but shes cancelled. Was sooo looking forward to it think im going to have to order anyhow lol xxx just for me x

It is such a shame that many restaurants have Anglicised their menus, serving dishes that would never be recognised in their supposed homeland, and consequently turned off a whole load of customers.

True Chinese, Indian, Thai, Afghan, Italian food is a million miles from the stuff that gets served up in so many restaurants.
tinks I fancy a curry tonight - do you live in the north west (lol) ?!
was probaly a cardomom pod erin. when i make a curry i count the cloves and the cardomoms then pick them out before serving.
Probably Brinjal. It gave me a sore head and put me off for life =s
I am not a big curry lover,but will have go for one now and again to please mrs Owd who adores a curry,we are blessed with several first class Chinese eating places along with some shocking Italian, and your usual pub grubs some good some not, its all down to taste,
