Tesco are advertising massive price cuts. Last few weeks the've been selling Strawberries and Rasperries any 2 for £3, now it's save 50p on Strawberries { were £2 now £1.50 ] and save 20% on Raspberries { were £2.25 now £1.80 } Buy 2 [one of each] and I make that £3.30. Some saving eh!
Ive noticed the same when ever they annouce these price cuts they put the prices up and down so much its impossible to tell when its a real cost cut anymore.
Last week I noticed that for a particular brand of coffee it was much cheaper to buy two small jars rather than one large, but at the same time tea was much cheaper for a large one than for two smalls. You really do have to check every item. Also they've announced that 'double points' are being halved again in order to pay for the price cuts.
I noticed this anomaly on fruit. The biggest confusion is the placing of the 2 for £3.00 next to the buy two get third free. All designed to confuse and confuddle. Mind you they did send my £3.00 off a week voucher again. I have found that it is cheaper if you stick to the bargain items.
Oh yes it's a massive fiddle... Their 4 pint bottles of milk have been 3 for £3 for ages, now they're 1.25 each! Their small chickens were £3 then they went up to £5 for a week now they're 'reduced' to £4!
Tesco announced a couple of months ago that they were reducing the Loyalty Points on petrol to cover the in-store price cuts. They used to give one point per pound spent on petrol - now it's one point every two pounds!
Yes- it's petty much smoke and mirrors.
Also I recenly was given a 5p a litre of petrol voucher asa reward for spending £50 in store, but when I went to use it to fill up a few days later I saw the price had gone up by 3p to 133.9 per litre whereas Sainsbury's a mile or so away were still charging 130.9.
