I have a couple of pounds of mushrooms, I've had them in the fridge for 3 or 4 days and dont really want to waste them. I thought I'd make soup and freeze it. They smell OK but I dont want to poison anybody.

They become dry and shrivelled.
Eventually, they will go slimy and smell unpleasant. So, make it soon!
We usually shop on Thursday and, buy mushrooms every wek and still eat them for breakfast on the following Tuesday! Still alive and kicking so no problemB.
If they smell okay and aren't gunky then they're fine - 3-4 days isn't ages to have them in the fridge anyway.

They are not dry and shrivelled or slimy and smelly but i'm just being cautious.
you would know as they get shrivelled, or get a little mouldy, i doubt there is a problem with the ones you have. Make a mushroom soup, that would be nice.
It all depends on how you store them. If they are left wrapped, they always seem more likely to get wet and nasty.

Thanks everyone. Off to make soup.
"Still alive and kicking so no problem"

Id be definitely worried if my 'shrooms were alive and kicking.
I've used them well over a week later - and they were ok.
Not if you tie them up ..
I usually put them wrapped loosley in kitchen roll in the salad drawer in the fridge, they go a bit shrivelled after week though. Don't keep them in a plastic bag they go slimy. Best to use them straight away if you can.
