Have just signed on the DM site.
Sorry, don't think money should be taken from the foreign aid budget - think more money should be made available for flood hit Britons but not at the expense of others.
Maggiebee - so you prefer to finance India's space mission rather than help the poor souls who are losing everything around our coats?
Not signed online, have an aversion to putting my name and address on an non https site.

Have printed off the petition and will post it today.
I don't agree with it Ann.

Are you happy if we withdraw money from a South Sudananese drought to deal with some soggy people in Somerset? The people in Sundan might die, the people in Somerset are more likely to have to deal with trench foot.

I don't know why we can't afford to help the people of Somerset without damaging our attempts to save lives elsewhere in the world?

I think there is a ulterior motive here.

Why not have a quick whip round the top 1%, sell the clear up branding rights to Branson or ask the Chinese to do it? These things are all very popular in other public works :)
I'm not signing it either.
I agree with the sentiment but the foreign aid budget is ring fenced so it is never going to happen
I'm not signing either.

I'm not signing as I'm not sure it's about money. If the government had say 100 million quid spare to spend on flood damage what would it do immediately to ease the problem, the water has no where to go and no amount of money can solve that.
I have every sympathy as does everyone reading this for the predicament of those suffering because of the floods.
However, this petition presumes that David Cameron is able to move money from the overseas aid budget to help those affected by the floods.
He can't...

Money could be had from the European Union Solidarity Fund..

I think they're a wee bit more than soggy down in Somerset, Ed.

I wouldn't want the money to be found by hurting those already suffering. This country is wealthy enough to help its own without taking from those who have nothing at all.
Would you really rob a starving Peter to pay a soggy Paul? I'm not signing.

No.
Sorry, but it's a no from me too.
Last time I signed a petition I was besieged with emails harassing me for money for their cause.

Once bitten and all that.
I'm not signing. The different budgets (including health) are ring-fenced at high level, and the people in this country aren't going to die, just to be highly inconvenienced (and they do have my every sympathy).

Why target the overseas aid budget, rather than ministers' expenses or other unpopular overpayments? "Britons endure unimaginable hardship"? Good old DM -that's somewhat of an overstatement compared to the hardships, say, in Africa, where people are dying for lack of wells or food.

Just checked out the Daily Mail page Ann and see that they are just asking for some of the money which I totally agree with, so have signed. Thousands agree with you too, just read the comments below the article.
I won't sign it .I do feel sorry for the people who are flooded .I've had a dose of it myself so know what it's like but I doubt anyone is going to die from thirst or starvation , Aids ,or malaria.
Already signed it.
