. . . An ex partner of someone in your family still gets invited to weddings etc, even though they're now nothing to do with your family?

That they must have been a well liked person in their own right. Also are there children involved perchance??

They had 2 kids and adopted another. And not my brother's ex prudie.

Yes, but their mum is nothing to do with the family anymore, so you're saying that it's the ex-husband fault they broke up . . . . maybe if it was the other way round then, and she was related to our family but the husband wasn't, he wouldn't still get invited to weddings etc.

The kids are prudie, but like i've been saying, the mum is now nothing to do with us (legally) and the only bllod connection is through the two children she gave birth to.
I presume the children live with her? Regardless how you look at she is part of the family as she is the Mother to the children.

I still regard my Sister ex as my BIL because he's the Father to my niece and nephew. My kids still call him Uncle...

just because someone is an ex, doesn't mean the whole family has to ostracise them.
I was invited to my first ex's cousins wedding and had to laugh as his new partner was not.......
