Hi me and my husband married on dec of 07 and got pregnant in jan. shortly after finding out we were pregnant they switched his deployment so he was no longer going in march, he was going in april which would mean that he won't be home in time for the birth. He will be back two weeks after the birth and I am wondering what you think I should do special as a return home/ new daddy type thing. I want to say a cute gift and our son in a welcome home daddy outfit but I have no idea on what kind of gift. Please help.

Hi, Have a look on this website. www.littlefunkykid.co.uk
They do vests and babygro's that you can design yourself, so you could put 'welcome home daddy' on it or whatever you like. Also, you can get a photo frame, I think in Mothercare, which you can put a photo one side, and a hand or foot print on the other. Do that as soon as you can, then he will get a first pic to look at. I was in a coma after having my son, and didn't see him for a few days after he was born, so the first pic, was one a nurse took of him in the incubator in the special care unit, and even 15months on, it is the most precious photo I have of him. I'm a sentimental fool, but hey....who cares!!!
Good luck, I hope all goes well with your pregnancy, I'm sure whatever you decide on, your husband will love.
xx
I second that, MrsKnutson. Good luck!

Smudge - what a touching story. You're not a sentimental fool at all. I'm glad everything turned out well for you!
You've got a gift already...your baby!!!!!
Are you sure, your husband cannot be home for the birth?

I know my husband managed, and a colleague of his was refused deployment, due to his child being due...
(He wanted to go nonetheless)

Of course that is the American Army, so it might be different in Britain.

Other than that I think you going through this on your own and then presenting your husband a brand-new (and already cleaned-up) baby should be gift enough!
