Can you become a prison officer, with a criminal record. It was over 10 years ago, and was something petty.

You'd have to declare your conviction because employment associated with 'the administration of justice' is exempt from the provisions of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act.

However, a criminal record isn't an automatic bar to employment:
