I am currently just about to finish a national award course in travel & tourism. The course consists of 6 units. I have gained distinctions on all my assignments and on-line examinations so far.
My father and father in law recently died and I have been suffering from a great deal of stress. I failed my most recent exam which had a pass mark of 85%, I got 78%. Would I be able to appeal under mitigating circumstances? without this pass I fail the whole unit and am very upset about this. Any advice would be much appreciated.

Did you mention to your tutor BEFORE your exam that your current situation may mean you underperform? If not, then I doubt they will adjust your mark. However you need to urgently speak to your course tutors to see what your options are, especially with your history of high marks. It is very unusual for a course to require you pass all of the modules with such a high mark - are you sure you have understood the requirements correctly? There must be an option to re-sit the exam? Anyway, speak to your tutors ASAP, point out your consistently high marks and ask if there is anything that can be done. Good luck! x
Yes - Speak to someone asap to get this sorted. I did really badly in my final exam for my degree because I was ill and because I had a doctors note they completely took it into consideration.
