Football on the TV. But why start the programme at 7 pm when kick off is 9 pm. Strikes me it's a bit like some of the story lines on the soaps "It's alright but it goes on too long".

They were no doubt obliged to show the Opening Ceremony, even though it was cack.
It really was, wasn't it!
I have an objection to that penalty decision.

Aaaaaah didn't know it showed the opening ceremony. Was it really bad and why?

Oh common Jeza, it only happens every 4 years, it takes a while for the average footie fan to realise what's going on, along with wondering how they got those scars on their knuckles!
Me too roy. Was hoping for a showpiece, it's descended already into feigning injury and the hosts 'getting away with a few' shall we say.
Nothing changes, sadly.
Or, put more succinctly, cheating. There's no other word to describe it. The pundits may call it gamesmanship, but it's cheating.
I want to see that again...was it for ball out of play or imaginary foul?
It wasn't off-side. The ball didn't go out of play. I think that the foul was given for being Croatian or, more likely, for NOT being Brazilian.
Unfortunately I have a bad feeling that for a lot of Brazil's games we will be talking about the negatives and how the ref favoured them, rather than the football to come.
Yep, replay says foul (cough)

I would dig out a boxset to watch if I had one.
Is this the Rugby cup they are playing for? I love the Maori dance thing before the game.

What's Croatian for "Who's the *** in the black?"
That would have been a foul in midfield had it been the other way, one feels.
On this performance though, my money is on Argentina or Germany.
tko Je gad u crno
Football on tv takes over now, I have no interest whatsoever in overpaid men who kick a ball about for millions of pounds pay. England have no chance from what I have heard and I will be glad when it is all over.
If I was a Croatian supporter I would be saying "who is the *** in the green"
but I do agree with chilldoubt in his comments,
To take something positive from the game, the Euro teams will get a boost from the game (if not the result) Croatia were very hard done by.

Called away, I'm back. Baldric, I like football. I didn't realise they showed the opening ceremony. I thought it would be all the pundits giving their opinions.
Demonstrations started outside the ITV studio with FIFA Go Home banners on show. Studio glass has been damaged by missiles too.
This is a proper FIFA mess and no mistake.
