Has anyone had their e-bay account suspended? If so, were you able to get it re-instated?

My friend has had her e-bay account suspended because e-bay suspected fraudulent activity, she was selling signed L.P's on behalf of someone else! I told that it was a scam but she didn't believe me and really thought that it was 100% kosher! Especially, as the job was advertised in her local job centre! We have appealed to e-bay on three different occasions and they have still refused to re-instate her account, has anyone had a similar experience, or does anyone know if there is anything else that we could do? I was thinking that maybe she should go to see a solicitor if nothing else but to clear her name, any advice would be greatly appreciated!!!

i stilldon't get why she can't report the "employer" to the police?
Surely it should have been easy enough to spot this as the same sort of home working scam as filling and sealing thousands of envelopes, which can also be found in the job centres.
As for the heartbreaking news that she is an army wife, she is either young and unworldly or just a total fool. I was in the army myself and my wife never had to do foolish work, nor did the thousands of other wives with a brain cell.
Face the fact that she has been duped and will never clear her name without wasting thousands of pounds trying to track the people that set up the scam, let alone the cost of going to court.
Did she have a job contract or was she being paid cash in hand??
You can't be too careful on ebay. By the way, I couldn't interest you in a Jimmy Savile shell suit, could I? It was signed last week at a Charity event. What?!
no reason bednobs - but ignorance is no defence maybe?
Why doesn't she just open a new account with a different name and steer clear of dodgy goods?
that's what I've said chrissa ...
Oh sorry oj. Great minds and all that.
definitely ;-)

Think the OP's friend is not keen tho

OK sorry, maybe I am being a bit emotional about the army thing, but it has been hard this week-end, knowing that her hubby is going to Afghan just after hearing about 6 soldiers being killed out there, also, you don't know the ins and outs of what she has done this week-end so that she could spend every last minute with him as well as see him off, as well as travelling hundreds of miles in the early hours of the morn with two young children in order to do so!!! So yes hands up, I am guilty of being a bit too emotional about it, I am sorry!!! And yes, I agree that maybe I was too harsh and yes she did say in the nicest possible way... But at the end of the day, my friend only wanted to earn a small living whilst hubby was away and it has turned in to a nightmare!! If you google 'how to re-instate your e-bay account' it is mind blowing in what you can or cannot do, OJ, it isn't that simple to create another account, if you read the web sites, they state how easy it is for e-bay to recognise a user creating another account, and in no way should you do it for someone else, otherwise your account too would be suspended!!! I really appreciate all your help and comments and again, I am sorry if any offence was taken, guess it has just been a touch too emotional this week-end!!! x
I would still just tell her to set up another account. There's a good chance eBay won't catch and if they do, what's the worse that could happen?
hello? hello? can you hear me? Has she reported the employer to the police????
I'm not quite with this - is selling on Ebay classed as an actual job, to be advertised in the Job Centre???? Also if someone is out of work and claiming JSA does that mean you can't sell goods on Ebay? I'm very confused ..
There was a very similar case on something like Watchdog not so long ago, where a woman had seen a job in the Jobcentre, selling items for an intermediary on eBay. She listed the items then took the money, passing the details onto the "employer" who was allegedly going to mail them to the buyer. They never did, but it was the seller who was sued by the buyers, since she was responsible for the listings.
I would never sell for someone else - it all sounds far too risky, it's your reputation that's at stake.
i too saw that lady on watchdog, nibble...

OK, this 'job' was advertised as a job, only part time AND without my friend claiming JSA as she is married with a husband financially supporting her and their two small children, it was only meant as something for her to do whilst her husband was away on army duties! She didn't want to earn loads, just something to keep her brain occupied and at the same time dispose of unwanted stuff within the the home! We did tell her that it maybe a scam but she was convinced that it wasn't! In this case, all items were sent, but it would appear that maybe the signatures on the L.P's weren't! I agree it sounds really risky, I wouldn't have done it! I am just trying to help sort it out!!!

P.S She hasn't called the police because she doesn't want to have trouble and who knows if the signed LP's are kosher???!!!
I still don't really understand - why would the seller want someone else to sell the signed LPs for them? It does sound very strange to me .....
Surely there is two options here...

Do nothing, get over it and open a new ebay account

Or

Kick up a fuss, draw attention to the matter and risk getting prosecuted for fraud (if she was selling LPs with fake signatures on them she was committing fraud).
Is this a genuine question? I only ask because OP joined today and this is her first question.
angie, this really is not worth anyone's tears
It is not the end of the world it is an eBay account

And it is that easy to set up another account. As a prolific I would call myself, user of eBay and the advice forums, believe when I say, that eBay will not have any means of knowing your friend has set up another account. If that were so, then how on earth do I have 2 accounts? How do some sellers have 3? (1 buying, 1 selling and 1 posting)

She can try Amazon ;-)

And for goodness sake stay away from google! Googling for yourself is like offering your soul to the devil
