I hear after having an abortion your not ment to fly for 48 hours afterwards, could anyone tell me the reason for this or what risks there could be if someone did go on a long haul flight within 24 hours after having one?
Thanks in advance for any answers.

There is a higher risk than normal of getting blood clots if you get a flight after having an abortion. In addition the person may feel a bit unwell and may be emotional after an abortion. If they absolutley had to get the flight I would advise taking aspirin, getting flight socks, ensuring they get up and move during the flight and seek medical assistance if any symptoms of a blood clot arise. They should also discuss it with their GP first and see what they advise.
Main reason....secondary bleeding due to infection which can be profuse. Don't do it.
dont know the answer to that but if a doctor has advised against it then i would listen and not fly. Abortion is emotionally and physically traumatic and heaven forbid anything did go wrong when your up there, who could help you?
