Hello im not sure if this is the right place for this question but my partner and i have been talking holidays and want to go abroad this year. We have a 2 year old like most of them wont sit still. What i want to know is how other parents have got on with taking their children the same age abroad it will be somewhere hot not too hot.. Also has anyone got any suggestions on places that have plent to do and are suitable for children. I dont like the idea of leaving her in a creche or a kids club, but also i would like a bit of a tan and a laze about by the pool if you no what i mean. Or is it better to stay in this country (we have for the past 2 years but its not the same)

we took our son to Ibiza when he was 15 months old (not the clubbing part of Ibiza!) We also went with my parents, so as we had four sunbeds around the pool we created a sort of mini playpen where our son could play with buckets of water and his toys under a parasol, it meant we could still go for a swim every so often and sunbathe. Eating out was no problem as we took a clip on highchair and we asked for an extra plate and he had some of our food rather than ordering a whole portion for him. There wasn't much to do during the day for him apart from the beach and in the evening my parents were happy to sit on the balcony with a bottle of wine whilst our son was in bed, while we went out. I should mention that our son is now 17 so we are talking a few years ago, but we have more recently also stayed in campsites in France staying in a mobile home rather than a tent and you have more in the way of entertainment but the freedom to cook or eat out as you want.
My parents always took my brother and myself abroad when we were little. I'm not sure how they coped, but I know that from my point of view it was great, and it's really gave me a desire for travel. We went to various parts of Greece and Spain mainly. I'm sure it was a bit hard to organise for my parents, but it was well worth it. I'm sure you'll have a terrific time.
