large baby!

My son's birth weight was 12lbs 2 oz, are second babies usually bigger? as this is what people tell me.

I was the second of six and I was the biggest of all of us by far!
I was a full 4lbs heavier than my older sister!!

I have 2 daughters and my eldest was the biggest but my little sis was bigger than me. Wow u sure had a big baby, no wonder ur wondering about the next lol

cos my biggest baby was 7lb 6oz, she was a full 2 lbs heavier than the others (i tend to have little runty type birth weights!) and that made my eyes water!!!!!

If a baby weighs in excess of 10lb at birth - the new mum is usually tested for incipient diabetes.

Wow! There was a baby in the ward when my daughter was born weighing 10lbs and I thought that was a good size. My first was 8lbs and the second 8+half pounds. so not much bigger. Please let us know when your baby is born.

My little daughter was born 10 days late, long painful birth and weighed in at 5lb 2.

My little boy was born at home, much less painful birth, weighing in at 8lb 11. AND he was 3 weeks early! My midwife reckoned he would have been an 11/12 pounder if he had gone all the way!

i was asked if i had a natural birth, yes i did and labour was only 4 hours. i was also asked by someone to let them no when my baby is born i'm not expecting second yet i was just wondering as i hope to have more in the future, thanks to all for replying x

My second child was lighter, but only by a few pounds(plus she was a girl).

My SIL's first was 11lb 12oz, her second was 12lb 15oz and her third was 6lb 5oz & they were all boys.

It's possible a second child would be heavier, but the midwife will probably keep more of an eye on you next time round seeing as your son was so big.

Wow Carla, My first child was heaviest at 8lb 1 but my others were all smaller. So dont think it is always true that the next one will be bigger. Good luck

Blimey ! My son was 9lb 7 1/2 ozs (he insists on the half lol) and I was worried about another one being bigger! But that doesn't always seem to be the case then? Good ;-)
