I remember when I was tiny I would get in the bath with my dad - till I was about 3 or 4.
Buut I was talking to a work colleague yesterday and she was saying that she still has a bath with her son, and he is 10. I thought that was quite odd, or is it just me??

I think that's a bit old. It's one thing to be open with your children, but I'd have thought a 10 year old might be beginning to find it embarrassing. IMO.

Well, I don't agree about hygiene - there's nothing wrong with sharing bathwater - OH and I often hop in after each other - it's the age of the child which I think is in question.

The subject only came up because she said his school had started teaching basic sex education and to her he wasnt old enough for all that as he was still her little boy and they shared baths blah blah. Ive met him and he is actually big kid.
My kids stopped getting in my bath a while back but the other day, I found 12 year old daughter sitting in the bathroom testing her 13 year old brother on his homework whilst he was wallowing in the bath! Not sure if this is right, but I'll leave them to it for now ;)
Does that mean that he has to get out to go for a wee, Smow lol.

Ewww Tony.
No, I don't think that's a good idea. Even though it is perfectly innocent, if the son was overheard talking about it at school, I bet Social Services would be alerted by some busybody. I can understand a parent possibly using the bathwater after the child had finished (not that I'd do it myself), but not at the same time.
LOL.
no i wouldn't do it, i remember when i was little sharing a bath with my mother, and i don't recall liking that much.

RR - I dont think thats an issue - as long as there was loads of bubbles!!

desktop - dont you and mr desktop have romantic baths together??
A bit odd yeah!
I had a weird moment last week actually. I live with my partner and her son (2years 11months old). He wanted to jump in the bath with me and I point blank refused even though I technically am his gurdian and have a good relationship with him, I found the situation very awkward. He must do it with his dad (who he sees 3-4 times a year) and I know he does with his mum at home. But for me it was too weird as he isnt my son. His mum however when I told her this said, "Oh it wouldnt do any harm he was jumping in the bath after you anyway". She sees no harm in it as there is implicit trust between us and he looks up to me as a father figure

Tony - we are talking about bath water here , not a swimming pool :-)

jd - it would be perfectly fine at his young age but if you arent comfy with it then of course you dont have to.
