Is it really new? I would take it back.

I'm with boxtops.
I thought that, but it depends what it's made of, I would suggest Oust 3 in 1 if the bag will take it.
the cigarette smell will disappear over time, I would be concerned if I bought a new bag that smelt of cigarettes!
Whatever it's made of it shouldn't smell of cigarettes. I'd take it back.
i get the impression from you question, that you received the handbag rather than purchased it.

it was off ebay and listed as new, it had all the tags attached, the seller does not accept returns

forgot to say it is faux leather with a polyester lining
I would put a tumble dryer sheet in it, the smell will disappear over time, make sure you bin all the packaging.
Good idea cazzz, but you could always contact the seller first, folly - I don't accept returns according to my listings, but if someone's really unhappy I always ask them to send the thing back. It's not as listed if it's smelly.

thing is box, most smokers are oblivious to that smell. I dont mean that in an insulting way either, the seller may just think you are making up excuses because they dont notice it themselves
