i have been divorced for seven months and my ex husband agreed that i could stay in the marital home as we have two children aged 19 and 14. he does not pay any maintinence as he packed his job in so that he would not have to. i am finding it a struggle to keep the home running financially. my husband agreed for the home to be sold so that i could move to a smaller property. there is no mortgage on the property and only my husbands name is on the deeds. we have had a reasonalbe offer on the property and he is refusing to accept it as he wants more money where do i stand legally as i cannot afford to stay in this property

Did you get a divorce with no solicitors then, and no orders drawn up as to the division of the marital home. What did your husband do for a living before, has he got a pension in which case you should have received some of that probably. I presume you cannot work for some reason, as if there is no mortgage would it not be feasible, or is your eldest son still in full time education .. you would probably be entitled to some help. Anyway if you are happy about moving out, then you need to get some legal advice I would say, because what is going to happen when the house is sold, how much of it are you going to get because you would probably be awarded more than half as you have to rehome the three of you, particularly as he has decided to stop working. Don't worry about not being on the deeds it is the marital home.
If you have not already done so, register your marital interest with the Land Registry. Go to their website for info.

This would prevent your ex selling the house without you knowing about it.
